Hi {{ first_name | Friend }},
The latest chapters of Assassin surprised even me.
👉 Ferran just witnessed his first anointing up close. It was wondrous, it was strange, and it did not go the way he, Lagash, and Sura hoped.
👉 I also discovered how the Smoke Wife’s blade will be used — and why Wrath gave it to Ferran. When the moment comes, I think you’ll be surprised too.
👉 And in the city of Broniss, people are angry and hunting for Borros. Ferran doesn’t know why. Neither do I yet. But I have a hunch…
This book is turning into the longest in the Drovers series yet. I expected 60–70,000 words, but it may end up close to 100,000. The best-laid authorial plans always seem to go awry when I get into these stories.
A quick thank-you to Bob, Jerry, Marianne, and Leigh Ann for their replies last week. I love hearing from you.
Now that the warm-up emails are done, I’ll ease into a monthly schedule — unless, of course, there’s a book or movie I simply must recommend.
And as a thank-you for being here, I’ve set up a subscriber celebration in my direct sales store:
🎁 25% off your order with this code: SUBSCRIBER_CELEBRATION
📚 eBooks sent by BookFunnel. Paperbacks signed by me.
If you already have copies, the stories make excellent gifts. You can cross off your Christmas shopping early and breathe a sigh of relief. Or give them as back-to-school presents.
Don’t delay — the discount ends at midnight, Wednesday, September 17.
Finally, a personal note — I’m headed to Santa Cruz with my family soon. Redwoods, the beach, and hopefully monarch butterflies on their migration. I’ll send a picture or two if we’re lucky enough to catch them.
Here’s to Ferran and crew and the surprises still waiting!
Sincerely,
John
P.S. If you want me to stop calling you Friend, hit reply and tell me your glorious name.
